Welcome to your new home on the web! :)

Dear Customer,

As you can see, your new web hosting account has been created and is ready to be used. This file that you are viewing right now is the index.html file located in your /public_html/ directory. You should replace it with your own index.html file - this will be your main page.

To upload files to your hosting account, you can either:

  1. Ftp to your account using your login details and server IP. This information was sent to you in your welcome email. What is FTP you ask? FTP stands for 'File Transfer Protocol' and is the easiest way to transfer files over the internet, ie. to upload your web site to you new hosting account at Digitalis. We recommend 2 FTP programs:

    i. SmartFTP - very good FTP program with a nice GUI. Completely FREE!

ii. FlashFXP - excellent program with an intuitive user interface. Not free, but trial available.

  2. Use the File Manager in your Control Panel to upload / download / delete files. Your control panel located at http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel comes ready with a nifty tool that lets you manage your files. If you don't have an FTP client handy, this is also an easy way to manage your files.

Please remember to update your domain name delegation details!

What is this you ask? If your domain name is registered with Digitalis Web Solutions, we will update your domain delegations for you - so you have nothing to worry about.

However, if your domain name is registered at some other Domain Registrar, you will need to login to their 'domain administration' section, and look for a 'nameserver' or 'delegation' option.

In there you should see some sort of form, where it says NS1, NS2 (or Nameserver1, Nameserver2 etc ). Please enter the nameserver details that were sent to you in your welcome email from Digitalis in those boxes, and remember to click Save / Update

If you are still not sure what to do or need assistance please contact support@digitalis.com.au.

It is important that this is done ASAP so that your domain name starts resolving to www.yourdomain.com with your new web hosting account at Digitalis Web Solutions. If you are moving your hosting account from a previous web hosting company, please ask them to delete zone files associated with your account from their servers.
